Over a decade of impactful interventions, the Urban Regenerator Program revitalized the urban space “La Marina” in Dorado, Puerto Rico, in partnership with the Municipality of Dorado and its Cultural Affairs Department. Together, we developed the Sala Exposiciones del Plata Salvador Rivera Cardona (SEP), a dynamic exhibition hall designed to activate the cultural and touristic life of the Plata River and Park La Marina areas.

The Foundation and Dorado envisioned a complete transformation of the area by establishing an alternative, active and novel space with various uses to elevate the community’s enjoyment to previously unimagined dimensions. According to this vision, other relevant adjustments were implemented to offer attractive cultural programming: workshops, exhibitions, conferences, summer camps and varied activities to enrich the life of Dorado’s inhabitants and visitors.

This vision successfully transformed the community’s engagement with art and culture, establishing an alternative. The program not only enriched the lives of Dorado’s inhabitants and visitors but also showcased the potential for art to drive urban renewal.

Through these efforts, arte_FITS Foundation has left a lasting legacy, demonstrating how art can reimagine spaces and bring communities closer together.
